PROJECT THE CHURCH: DE OUDE MATTHEUS
For the seventh semester, I had been working on a big church assignment. This Church was located in Eibergen in the middle of the city centre. The project revolved around repurposing and future-proofing it. My new interior and function provided space for sports classes, evening dining, art exhibitions and most importantly still, Sunday Church. It is a design that speaks and is challenging. In function, in form and especially in colour. It forms a flashy contrast to the Church. I looked at fields of view, where when you enter the Church my design should immediately be an eye-catcher. On the other hand, it does not diminish the appearance of the Church, because my design is designed with the Church's details in mind and extra highlighting them. For example, the mirror on the floor where the beautifully drawn ceiling can be seen again. Also the art, which is placed on glass panels that hang high through the Church, means that it is guided upwards and thus emphasizes the Church again by placing light. Various posters were made for the design showing the process. I also provided the environment model and the building model.
